Join the Havurah for an inviting Friday evening Shabbat Service when we mark the shift from our hectic weeks to slowing down with “Shabbat time”: song, prayer, poetry, and learning. Our service is both traditional and creative, and includes discussion of the weekly Torah portion or other timely topic of interest.
This week’s service will align with HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society), in their call for an annual Shabbat dedicated to deepening our awareness of the experience of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. In addition to honoring HIAS’s wonderful work, we’ll have a speaker from New Sanctuary Movement, addressing the work they are doing here in Philadelphia as an interfaith group advocating for immigrants, and giving us concrete actions we can take to help.
