Havdalah a traditional ceremony that marks the symbolic end of Shabbat and ushers in the new week. This beautiful ritual involves lighting a special havdalah candle with several wicks, blessing a cup of wine and smelling sweet spices. It takes place at the end of Shabbat, on Saturday night after the appearance of three stars in the sky. At the Havurah we have not celebrated this much in the past – let’s try it and see whether it catches on.

The plan: Havdalah observance with sharing of songs, stories, and poems. In the process, we’ll get to know each other better. We will also have make-your-own-sundaes for adults and kids! Feel free to bring some additional dessert for everyone’s enjoyment.

This havdalah will take place at Liz and Charlie’s home – and is hosted by Liz and Rose Isard. Please let Liz 202-213-8292 or Rose 215-514-5533 know if you plan to join us, and please bring a dessert or a beverage to share.
