Take a look at our calendar for upcoming activities. We have several groups of interest. Please contact the leader if interested.
Havurah Book Club: The Havurah Book Club is a group of Havurah members who like to read and discuss books that are informed by Jewish values. We read fiction and non-fiction books, many of which are directly related to Judaism or Jewish history. We’re an informal group, where you’re free to attend whichever meeting interests you, whether or not you’ve read the book. We meet on Saturdays from 4:00 – 5:30 pm every 6 to 8 weeks. (Currently on Zoom).
Any Havurah member is welcome to join us! If you’d like to join the Book Club or have any questions, please contact Cathy Levin at email@example.com or Peggy Greenfeld at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Havurah Mah Jongg Group (beginners welcome) Come learn this fun game or join as a seasoned participant. Click HERE to learn about Mah Jongg. For further information about this bi-weekly group, contact Judy Watman
Holiday Committees: Major holidays need your help to happen! To join one of our holiday committees (ie, Fall high holidays, Passover, Chanukah,) please contact Ali Freed.
Tikkum Olam: Our projects have been directed locally and globally, collecting of goods and funds for local and international charities, and food pantries, cleaning Narberth Park, preparing meals for Havurah families mourning loss, and participating in the Martin Luther King Day of Service and Philadelphia’s Annual Peace & Reconciliation Walk. Contact Rabbi Simcha if you have an area of focus for tikkun olam that you are interested, and/or a specific project you’d like to help initiate.
Antiracism Group: Monthly sessions for learning, discussion, and calls to action to become proactively antiracist as individuals and as a community. Contact Rabbi Simcha to be included added to group emails announcing meeting dates and times.
Social Events: Want to be a part of an activity and don’t know how to get started? Why not volunteer for one of our smaller events that needs “boots on the ground.” Contact Judy Watman or Ali Freed to see what is happening.
If you have an idea for an activity or group that you’d like to host or sponsor, please let Judy Watman know, and we’ll work with you to make it happen!
