Shabbat with the Havurah

Havurah Shabbat potluck: Gathering for Kiddush and Motzi

Come and join the Narberth Havurah to kindle the Shabbat candles and celebrate the joy, peace, and sense of connection that Shabbat can be.

Community Shabbat Potluck

Our Community Shabbat Potlucks continues this year, subject to COVID safety policies as needed. We begin as one big Havurah family with Shabbat candle lighting and rituals, share a great potluck meal, and some Shabbat potluck gatherings also include a fun intergenerational activity: Israeli dancing, game night, a story for kids and the kid in all of us are a few examples.

Wine and Wisdom

Many of our Shabbat potlucks are followed with Wine and Wisdom for those who wish to stay after dinner for adult-oriented learning/discussion. These discussions focus on the week’s Torah portion, an upcoming holiday, or another topic relevant to current events or of general interest.

Shabbat Together

Each season we offer a Shabbat Together. We welcome members of all ages to join in a blend of traditional prayers, music, meditation, poetry, and discussion on the week’s Torah portion followed by bagels and coffee and an opportunity to schmooze. We adjust the programming to needs of those who come. We usually gather in member homes for this community event.

kids shabbat

Havurah parents with young children may also organize a children’s Shabbat that includes songs, stories, and a craft led by parent volunteers. It’s a beautiful way for kids to make new friends and parents to strengthen connections with other Havurah families! Please be in touch with Rabbi Simcha if you’re interested in being part of this Kid’s Shabbat experience.

VILLAGE SHABBAT

A favorite annual event, on Village Shabbat members new and old gather around Shabbat tables in each others homes. It’s a great way to get to know other members, and to celebrate Shabbat in a more intimate setting.
